Life Expectancy and Telomere Length

Telomere Length, Life Expectancy and the Horizon
Are you on the road to forever?

How to Increase Life Expectancy

A few weeks ago we heard  a test is available from a lab in Spain that can predict our life expectancy and it is coming to a lab near you. Before you go out and get this test done you should ask your self aseveral questions. Can a blood test accurately predict how many April 15ths we have left  and would you really trust it ?If this is true imagine the effect it could have on the rest of our lives?

I’m 25 years old and inherit a large amount of money, do I invest or do spend it on fun, cars, traveling, women and  blow the rest? If you could trust the test, you would have your telomere length tested. If you had very short telomeres and the results predict you have 5 years you could start spending – no need to invest. If the results predicted 60 years you could invest and hope you weren’t struck by lightning.

The idea that we can look at telomere length and accurately predict your life expectancy we have left here on earth is ridiculous. Dr. Greider, Nobel laureate, agreed and thinks that specific information is far-fetched. While some others think it may be of benefit to an individual that needs a wake up call regarding their lifestyle. A 45-year-old with short telomeres could use it as a wake up call. .

Healthy Living and Life Expectancy

So be for you skip work next week I suggest you give it a second thought . If you are tested, use the results as a barometer of your current lifestyle. If you have extremely short telomeres you would  want to possibly put down the smokes, cut back on the cocktails , back off on the burger delights, get in the gym and start some supplements. The supplements, as suggested by Drs. Oz and Chopra, vitamin D, fish oil, aspirin, if your older than 40 and a good multi vitamin. TA-65 is another supplement but unlike the others mentioned by Drs. Oz and Chopra actually lengthens telomeres – the only commercial compound available that does that.

Stress and Life Expectancy

The final suggestion, decrease your stress. We previously reported  that stress is one of the most harmful things affecting telomere length. Reducing stress can be extremely beneficial in  prolonging quality life. One of the more popular ways to reduce ones stress is through meditation done on a daily basis for 10 minutes or longer. There are multiple disciplines of meditation available pick one and start today.
