“How to stop the aging process?” is a question more and more people are asking as they search for answers. Keeping hormone levels optimal is one way to slow down the aging process. Better nutrition is another way  to prevent aging prematurely.  Better nutrition involves the use of supplements, too. One nutritional supplement that looks promising in its ability to stop the aging process is resveratrol.

Stop the Aging Process with Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a fungicide produced in skins of grapes.  It enables grapes to survive when stressed by environmental factors through its activation of sirtuin genes.  Sirtuin genes are also present in humans.

Many favorable metabolic and biochemical processes occur when sirtuin genes are activated.  Eighteen sirtuin activating compounds, or STACs have been identified, but resveratrol is the most potent.

Resveratrol seems to trigger the same metabolic and biochemical changes that are seen with calorie restriction, which has long been known to increase life-span. It’s too early to know for sure if resveratrol can slow aging, but it certainly looks promising in managing the aging process.

In the video clip below, David Sinclair, Ph.D and Christoph Westphal, MD, Ph.D. discuss the potential health benefits of resveratrol and how it may slow down the aging process.
