Age Related Changes of the Penis
What are the age related changes that affect the penis? A recent article by Dr. Castellanos from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine outline some of the changes that occur to males as they age.
These age related changes ae secondary to our declining testosterone levels which start as early as 30 and are pronounced by the age of 50. Some of the changes are decline in energy, libido, muscle mass , bone mineral density and feeling of well-being. There are some more specific changes as related to the penis that are not commonly discussed.
The Penis
Dr Castellanos describes several changes, which she elaborates on in her book Penis Problems A Man’s Guide.
Color: Loss of the deep purple color of the glands, secondary to decreased blood flow
Size: There may be a decrease in size which again is secondary to blood flow decrease, in some cases can be due to Peyronnies disease and finally there may be some engulfment by the pubic fat pad as the individuals percent body fat increase with age. This is not a true loss of length but it makes the penis appear shorter.
Feeling: There can be a change in sensation in the penis .
Andropause
Andropause and age related changes are synonymous. The symptoms discussed are all secondary to the decline of male hormone testosterone associated with a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle. There is ample literature that proves that by supplementing testosterone to optimal levels, paleolithic diet and an exercise program many of the undesirable symptom can be avoided.
Men who go untreated suffer from declining mood, increased incidence of cardiovascular disease including impotence, loss of muscle mass, decrease in bone mineral density and dyslipidemia. By supplementing we see an improvement of mood, increased bone mineral density, improvement in vascular disease, correction of cholesterol abnormalities, better sleep and mood.
Pertaining to the penis as the testosterone is supplemented we see an increase in libido, erections, return of the color and decrease in body fat making the penis appear larger. Many of the changes are secondary to the effects that testosterone has on our vascular tree with resultant increased blood flow. We are now aware of the fact that men who are impotent have an increased incidence of heart disease.
Testosterone: the Key to the Penis and a Better Healthier Life
The key to our hearts are not through our stomachs as felt in the past. That type of thinking is what got us to where we are today. The true key is testosterone optimization, exercise program and a paleolithic diet. These three things will improve your health, your attitude and your sex life and ward off age related changes. Don’t lose your key!
