Quest for the Best Skin Care Treatment

According to Wikipedia’s definition, aging or aging in humans refer to a multidimensional process of physical, psychological, and social change, with some dimensions expanding or growing while some declining.

The legendary fountain of youth doesn’t exist, and because everyone wants to look like they are in their 20’s, the search for anti aging remedies to preserve beauty, maintain a younger appearance and prolong longevity becomes a continuous and never ending quest.  Cosmetics can be some of our best allies in this process as well as other sciences in cosmetology.

This is because society has placed a great value in staying young. In fact, according to statistics, one in every three women in the UK use anti-aging creams, not to mention the thousands out of the 75 million baby boomers worldwide. And while these solutions may have proven to be effective, companies continue to work harder to research new products that would finally halt, or at the least, delay aging. Is there a best skin care treatment?

Many changes take place in our bodies during our lifetime and can be seen first on our skin. Our way of living, external factors also affect the appearance of our skin, such as a blue-collared worker’s hand may look more wrinkled as compared to the hands of a white-collar worker.

Disease-stricken bodies also manifest poor skin and certain illnesses can make the skin sensitive. Free radicals are produced by our bodies as by-products of our own metabolism. It destroys our skin cells and leads both to wrinkled and tough, leathery skin.

In 1997, The American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine established a professional physician certification and review board in Anti-Aging Medicine, a clinical/medical specialty with the aim to detect, prevent, treat, and reverse age-related decline. It uses evidence-based methods and conducts patient assessments and is well documented by a peer-medical and scientific journal.

Anti-Aging Products

Hundreds of international laboratories solely focus on anti aging products and to compare one from the other can be quite a feat. Each claim amazing results, great reviews and ratings. There are spot removers, anti aging lotions, anti aging shampoos and conditioners, anti aging foundations and a whole lot more to choose from.

And as if there is a shortage of these beauty products, so-called beauty experts are concocting their own homemade anti aging solutions with an ingredient that you probably never heard before. Indeed, trying to figure out which product will keep you looking young can be tough and can get pretty expensive. But then expense is no issue when it comes to staying young.

For instance, in 2006, South Korea is said to fund anti-aging research and plans to spend more than $20 million over the next 10 years to discover age-defying technologies to uncover the secrets of staying young just to compensate for the country’s rock-bottom birth rate.

Another example is the World Anti-Aging Congress 2009, where 2,600 plus physicians which included 80 world-renowned clinicians and researchers, doctors, health practitioners, and industry leaders convened for Spring Conference to present the latest data on cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs in human longevity.

Anti Aging Skin Cream Then And Now

The use of anti aging skin care products dates back to ancient times. Thousands of years ago the Egyptians used makeup to make them look and feel younger. Other cultures that used makeup included Greeks and Romans, and also the Europeans during the Renaissance period. However, anti aging skin care products generally belonged to the noble and rich as these are luxury items.

Anti aging skin care today has evolved further into different forms. Today, there are anti aging alternatives.

There are traditional alternatives, such as Cosmetic Surgery and other invasive procedures such as Skin Injectables, Fraxel, Anti Aging Treatments Creams, Serums designed to increase Dermal Collagen and Elastin, Retinol, Intense Pulsed Light and Photorejuvenation, Laser Resurfacing, HGH or Human Growth Hormone, Microdermabrasion or Particle Resurfacing, sometimes called Power Peels, Derma Peels and Parisian Peels

There are also revolutionary products which target the internal sources of aging such as Testosterone Replacement Therapy, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement.

Other non-invasive revolutionary skin treatments and products which can be used on other areas of the body are Thermage, Mesotherapy, Zerona and Lipo dissolve.

Thread Lift is much less invasive than face lift surgery wherein thin needles are used to insert clear polypropilane threads with tiny barbs just under the skin. The threads are then pulled tight to lift sagging skin and tissue on the face and neck.

Since 2011, very few board certified plastic surgeons recommend the procedure to their patients. In comparison to a conventional face lift, no skin is removed, instead, the procedure relies on the threads to tighten the skin, thus creating a younger looking face.

Anti Aging Cream

Everywhere in the world, humans are placing heavier emphasis on anti aging remedies, making competition in the cosmetic industry even tougher; top sellers in the business can only be more vulnerable to remain on top. Today, it is a rarity not to find an anti-aging product without being advertised on TV, eBay, news articles on their website which include testimonials and even a consumer forum.

Some are even endorsed by top-rated stars and celebrities. For example, Demi Moore was featured in The Oprah Show. The hype behind anti aging remedies lies on one thing – to get people to buy. Anti aging skin care products are big business and with 90 million people using anti aging formulations, who wouldn’t want to be in this business?

Why Anti Aging Skin Care Products Must Not Contain These Ingredients

1. Mineral Oil – also called petrolatum, liquid paraffin, and paraffin wax. It is used in skin care products so often because most oils are incredibly inexpensive, so companies that use it can make more money. Its dense oily texture clogs your pores, disrupts your body’s ability to get rid of toxins, and as a result, can lead to serious acne flare-ups.
2. Fragrances – many fragrances are made from ingredients that are toxic or carcinogenic and you do not want those things on your skin.
3. Dioxane – a synthetic derivative of coconut and considered by the state of California to cause cancer.
4. Parabens – parabens are used as a preservative so products can have a longer shelf life but in recent studies suggest that parabens may cause cancer and interfere with your body’s endocrine system.
5. Alcohols – alcohols dry and irritate your skin.

3. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that can lessen the damages in our cells. Flavonoids come from green tea and red wine, as well as  chocolates.
4. Grape seed extract also contains flavonoids and phytonutrients that give benefit to the skin.
5. Green tea have long been proven in Asia. Drink this every day and have beautiful skin like the Asians.
6. Selenium helps your body delay the aging process. It can be found in Brazil nuts, tuna and garlic.

Anti-Aging Treatment

Before looking at treatment options it is essential to ask oneself whether an anti aging treatment is recommended. Often the secret solution to looking good for your age is to start with the basics such as good nutrition, exercise regimen and a dietary plan consisting of foods of nutritional value.

Anyone would agree, even a doctor,  that aside from gene-related factors, the foundation to a youthful look is something you cannot buy from a drugstore. It begins with having a positive philosophy in life and does not rely on a miracle drug or over-the-counter formulas or the perfect food and the perfect diet, or science break-through medicines sold in a super store. A few sensible tips we must observe to delay aging includes:

1.  Avoid doing harm to your skin; stop smoking, limit alcohol and sun exposure.
2.  Get lifestyle factors right; change your lifestyle to a healthy one if needed
3.  Take good care of your skin as part of your daily regimen; moisturize and protect it from harsh elements
