The Natural Superwoman

Oh yeah, baby! You’re a natural superwoman. Well maybe. At least you could be if you want to be. Would it not be wonderful to wake up each morning and feel like a superwoman, especially if you are a real woman – naturally (no Bruce Jenner types)? Help is around the corner if that is your goal.

The Natural Superwoman

A female patient of mine several months told me about the book, The Natural Superwoman by Uzzi Reiss, MD who is an obstetrician/gynecologist. The book reinforces and complements our recommendations for woman’s health and I have encouraging my female patients to read it.

It is a terrific resource for woman going through “the change”. It’s one of those books that as you read it you may come away thinking that book was written just for you – kind of like hearing a talk or sermon and think the message is being directed to you alone (surely I’m not the only one with that experience).

The Natural Superwoman discusses the many benefits hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and provides an enlightening discussion on the many myths and

misconceptions regarding HRT that we too have addressed. But, the book goes beyond well beyond hormone replacement therapy.

The book also discusses the importance of nutrition and exercise and the benefits of living a vibrant life. It makes suggestion for nutritional supplements like vitamin D and fish oil. The Natural Superwoman provides recommendations for protecting a woman’s bones from osteoporosis and strategies to prevent breast cancer.

Throughout the book patient case stories are shared and we are certain that you will identify with some of these women’s stories if you are perimenopausal or post-menopausal. Several chapters start with a checklist of questions related to particular hormone deficiency and you can get a good idea which hormones you may have a deficiency.

There is a large segment of the book related to neurotransmitters and conditions that plaque many women like depression, anxiety, insomnia, and fading memory with nutritional and pharmacologic strategies to address each condition.

The Natural Superwoman is more complete than other books we have reviewed on women’s health which have been limited to hormone replacement therapy only and we are certain you will benefit from reading it and applying its strategies. Yes, you could be that natural superwoman.
