Return of the Paleo Diet
In The Paleo Diet, Loren Cordain, Ph.D. makes the case that we are genetically designed to eat as our hunter-gatherers did. The Paleo Diet is designed by nature – not man – and the blueprint for optimal nutrition is built into our genes. In over 40,000 years the human genetic make-up as changed less than 0.2%, yet the foods most of us consume today are dramatically different than those by our ancestors.
The Paleo Diet emphasizes the consumption of wild and lean animal foods and the consumption of carbohydrates coming from wild fruits and vegetables sources while avoid dairy and cereal grains.
In The Paleo Diet, Cordain provides a simple straight-forward approach to following the Paleo Diet replete with recipes and a discussion on exercise.
Though, some are critical of the concept of the Paleo Diet, four studies since 2007 have experimentally tested versions of hunter-gatherer diets and have found them superior to the Mediterranean Diet, diabetic diets, and our typical western diet with respect to weight loss, and risk of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
The Paleo Diet is easy to read. For any one struggling to lose weight, or desiring to improve their health this is a book whose concepts are worth strong consideration. Click image to order this book.
