Elixir For Slowing Down Aging Process

Many people today bank on advances in science and technology to discover and bring to them the so called fountain of youth. For different individuals, the modern-day elixir of youth can be in the form of pills, beauty creams, medical and surgical procedures and beauty regimens that may, in one way or another, revitalize one’s body. However, there is no single silver bullet yet that can preserve youth and vigor even when the golden years arrive. Before spending a hefty amount to “buy youth”, consider leading a healthy lifestyle for slowing down aging process.

Slowing Down Aging Process With The Proper Diet

Eat foods rich in antioxidants. Taking the proper nutrition that can delay aging, be it solely from diet or supported by nutritional supplements, is vital. Eat foods rich in antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C and E. Many fruits and vegetables are teeming with these vitamins. Antioxidants are known to fight the damaging effects of free radicals that bring about aging.

Reduce fat intake. Cutting down on fat intake is also recommended in slowing down aging process. High fat intake can introduce bad cholesterol that can clog arteries leading to cardiovascular problems. This advice again advocates the intake of fruits and vegetables over meat and butter. Eating fiber-rich foods and certain fish, like salmon and mackerel, are known to oust bad cholesterol.

Drink lots of water. Maintain a water intake of at least eight glasses daily. This can also be sourced from other drinks but the natural sources are preferred over sodas and powdered juices. Water intake helps to preserve healthy skin and to wash off toxins from the body.

Slowing Down Aging Process By Exercising

Exercise is one area that you do not want to slow down when it comes to aging.  It’s important that you “keep on keeping on”.

Walk. Walking is simple and will not cost you a dollar, unless you are jay walking, yet it is very helpful in slowing down aging process. Brisk walking for 20 minutes thee days or more per week can be a good substitute to aerobics exercise. Aerobics exercise is shown to help in warding off high blood pressure and reducing cholesterol levels thus, keeping the bloodstream free from obstructions. With these health benefits, walking brings down your chances of suffering a heart disease.

Yoga and mediation. You can supplement brisk walking with yoga and meditation to relax your mind at the same time keep you lithe and nimble. This will not just strengthen your bones and muscles, it can also relieve stress, boost blood and oxygen circulation especially to vital organs of the body, such as the brain and heart and bump up your energy.

Slowing Down Aging Process By Leading A Healthy Lifestyle

Take time to relax and manage stress. Whether you like it or not, stress will always be present in your life. Recent studies show that prolonged exposure to stress hormones can expedite brain aging. Stress takes its toll on your body by disrupting hormone secretion, cell repair and collagen formation. So make sure that you are at the helm when stress strikes.

One way of managing stress is by relaxing. Yoga and meditation and breathing techniques can help you relax. You can also  simply turn on your MP3 player and listen to good music while maybe soaking in the bath.

Quit smoking. This habit can cause prominent wrinkles and lines and bring about a gaunt appearance and an unhealthy complexion. More importantly, smoking can lead to heart and many other diseases.

Take care of teeth. When you reach 40, you can lose your teeth due to gum disease caused by plaque. Bacteria in plaque manufacture toxins that can inflame gums that can lead to the tooth falling out if your immune system is not strong enough to fight the infection.  Maintain the habit of brushing and flossing teeth after meals to prevent the formation of plaque and tooth loss.

Regularly cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Some items in the kitchen can help you in slowing down aging process, such as cucumber, oatmeal and many others. Rubbing castor oil to face and neck is said to tone muscles and improve skin tone. Treat skin to ample moisturizing and protect with sunblock.

Eating the right food, exercising and leading life the healthy way all have important roles in slowing down aging process.
