Have you been to a fitness center and seen those black rubber bars with no weights on the end, and wondered what they are?  That 4 foot bar that you see is a Bodybar® and can be used in almost any workout routine to give you a complete body workout. There are literally hundreds of body bar exercises one can do.
The bars range in weight from 3 pounds up to 36 pounds and are encased in rubber. They have no weights on the end, so the weight of the Body Bar® is evenly distributed making them easy to handle and reduces the risk of injury.  Plus, the rubber encasements make the bar easy to grip.
Body Bars are versatile and can be used or incorporated into most exercise routines. Â Body Bars can be used to improve flexibility, core strengthening, and general strengthening. Â They can also be use in martial arts training, and in performing yoga and Pilates.
The Body Bar® is a great piece of equipment, especially for the beginner because it so versatile and a good workout with the Body Bar® can be accomplished without leaving the house.
Body Bar Exercises
A PDF of  Body Bar® exercises can be downloaded from the Bodybar website.  In addition to the video below I suggest you also watch this video to learn more about the unique versatility of the Body Bar®.  The bars range in price from approximately $30 to $120.
It’s probably a good idea to get at least 3 different weights: a beginner bar of 3 to 6 pounds, an intermediate bar of 9 to 12 pounds, and an intermediate to advance bar of 15 to 18 pounds. Â For those of you who are stronger an advance bar of 24 to 36 pounds would be appropriate.
The heavier bars are ideal for general and core strengthening and the beginner and intermediate bars are better suited for cardio and flexibility exercises. Like any exercise using proper form and technique is a must to get the best results and to reduce the risk of being injured.
