Paleo Comfort Foods is a wonderful addition to anyone’s kitchen whether they be a newby to the Paleo lifestyle or an old hand. In the intro we meet husband and wife team of Julie and Charles Mayfield and learn their backgrounds and motivations.
They quickly take our hands and lead us step by step setting up our kitchen, with everything we will need, as well as a game plan for stocking the pantry with paleo foods and staples.
Once the kitchen supplies are procured and pantry is stocked it’s time for some down home cooking, Paleo style. The recipes in Paleo Comfort Foods are not what one would expect from a cook book that is aimed at improving our health. These are down right decadent but healthy. The first few sections are aimed at what else, starters and snacks.
Here you will find things as simple as salsa to more intricate, a pickled shrimp appetizer. If you can get past the first few sections you’ll be greeted by more healthy foods that we thought were off our healthy menus for life. All the tantalizing menus are made even more tempting by beautiful color photographs, WOW! This will definitely ward off the boredom associated with so many other healthy cookbooks. All and all, there are over 125 recipes including soups, salads, main dishes and even desserts.
If you’re trying to eat healthy and go to a Paleo, gluten-free diet Paleo Comfort Foods is more than a must have. My only warning – do not attempt to read this on an empty stomach.
