Men Cosmetics at a Store Near You

Men CosmeticsMen Cosmetics Go Mainstream

Times have sure changed from those earlier days of the rugged Marlboro Man. Men cosmetics have gone mainstream as more men turn towards cosmetics and skin care products. One reason: baby boomers are looking for an edge in the workplace in this down economy. And, the younger guys like the idea of simply looking as good as they can all the time.

For those men looking to become more attractive during the job search this trend towards vanity also includes the dyeing of hair and eyebrows, the removal of strategically misplaced and misguided tattoos, Botox injections, and skin re-surfacing techniques..

According to this LA Times article we’re witnessing a BOOM in men cosmetics and skin care products. For companies that make these male products the future looks extremely bright as the market is approaching nearly $3 billion in sales, yet only one in four men currently use some type of facial product. Yet, it appears some men have not received the memo that cosmetic line specifically for men are now available according to this article.

Manufacturers of men cosmetics are better learning how to market and package their products keeping the male mindset in mind. They’ve adopted masculine packaging – so no more pink packaging – and sell the products from male friendly locations in department stores, and is some cases dedicated men aisles. And, perhaps the biggest thing these companies have learned in marketing men cosmetics is not to use the word “makeup”.
