GET SERIOUS by Brett Osborn, DO

get seriousIf you really want to transform your body and your health – if you are really that serious and committed – then Get Serious by Brett Osborn, DO is a book for you. If you want to lollygag, pussyfoot, tiptoe through your workouts, and make subtle efforts to improve your health then don’t even bother reading the book – it’s not for you. The book is only for the serious.

Dr. Osborn is one of those doctors who walks the walk. He’s also a neurosurgeon. In Get Serious, Dr. Osborn provides an overall program and strategy to better health. The book emphasizes that you control most of what happens to you health-wise, not your genetic code.

Get Serious discusses in detail the importance of strength training for men and WOMEN and why building muscle matters. The book also emphasizes low glycemic eating as this website encourages providing a very nice discussion on insulin. The importance of protein in the diet is emphasized. And, like this site the book dismisses the notion that all fats are unhealthy.

Dr. Osborn features his top 10 nutritional supplements which we would find hard to argue about. He also suggests using certain medications off-label to ward off cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease (one we’re not big fans of one of them so we might disagree with him there).

Get Serious gets to the basic of strength training – no fancy equipment needed – just good old free weights focusing on squats, overhead press, dead lift, bench press, plus the pull-up/chin-up and provides a strength training protocol along with strength-endurance exercises.

Dr. Osborn recommends key blood tests that you should get to make sure you’re on the path to optimal health and ways to monitor your health at home. Get Serious provides a succinct discussion regarding the truth about hormones.

You won’t go wrong by getting serious with your health. Add Get Serious to your health library.
